Knights Welcome Ken Mason as New Head Coach!

With 18 years coaching experience under his belt the Knights believe Mason is the man to lead the Knights in 2013. When asked what he brings to the Knights in 2013 he responded,” I wont say winning because the Knights have already been winning. I want bring a CHAMPIONSHIP to the Knights in 2013″. Mason has experienced his own success at the Minor League level as the owner of the Buckeye Bearcats Minor League team that plays out of Green Ohio who went 17-3 in regular season play over the last 2 years. Mason sold the Bearcats so that the team name could carry on and then later joined the Knights after the Bearcats were eliminated from the playoffs “Ownership was fun but it was also a very stressful I found myself not having fun like I used to, that is why I decided to go from owner back to coach. I believe the Knights had the best situation for me as a coach so it was only ideal for me to team up with them” said Mason.  The Knights are looking forward to what they believe will be a even better season than this year and believe they will bring home some hardware next summer.

Knights Sign Paul Dorando as Defensive Coordinator!

Well what can you say about a man that has over 30 years of coaching experience? The answer, he must know what he’s doing! Dorando has coached at many schools over his 30+ years coaching career including Coventry, Buchtel, Woodridge, Green, and a 10 year stint at Walsh University. After retiring in 2010 Dorando became just a fan of the game for the first time in over 45 years. When Knights owner Jermaine Campbell spoke with Dorando about coming out of retirement to coach his Minor League team Dorando stated, “if i’m coming out of retirement its for a championship and nothing less”. The Knights were 9-4 overall (7-3 regular season) in there inaugural season and boasted a very stingy defense but with Dorando now leading the defense the Knights believe the sky is the limit when it comes to the teams defensive capabilities. Knights fans get ready 2013 shall be a season to remember!

Offensive Lineman Cody Myers Lands Scholarship to Malone University

When offensive lineman Cody Myers joined the Golden Knights the first thing he said was “my former coach said nobody would want me on their team”, well that coach couldn’t have been more wrong! The Knights brought the 6’4″ 305 pound tackle on to the team and within a few practices he was in the starting rotation. After playing in four games with the Golden Knights he had regained his confidence and was ready to take a shot at getting into college. Myers tried out for the Malone University football team in Canton, OH and did so good he made the team and received a scholarship! The first thing Cody said to team owner Jermaine Campbell was “thank you for continuing to pursue me and getting me back into football”. When asked about how this affects the Knights Campbell said ” Cody is a HUGE loss but it is the reason I started this team. My goal is to see a few more go to college, arena, or pro teams before the year is over.”
